Our Story
We’re a family-run business based in Manchester. I’m a mum of three, and the idea for all this started in the most ordinary way—painting my nails. My little girl wanted hers done too, and she was so excited at the thought of wearing nail polish. But then it hit me… most polishes are packed with harsh chemicals. I spend so much time choosing gentle, skin-friendly products for her, so why would I suddenly put something on her nails that isn’t? Especially when I know those tiny fingers end up in her mouth all the time.
That’s when I started looking for safer options—polishes that could be fun for kids, without the nasties.
So we started digging into nail polish—what’s actually in it, and what those ingredients can do to the body. And honestly, the more we learned, the more we knew we had to do something different. That’s when we decided to make our own polish.
We went with what’s called a “10-free” formula—basically, we left out ten of the most common (and not-so-great) chemicals found in nail polish, toluene, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, camphor, TPHP, phthalates, ethyl tosylamide, parabens, no added fragrance, xylene.
Basically, if it doesn’t need to be there, we don’t put it in.
We thought a 10-free formula was a brilliant start, but honestly… we wanted more. So we made sure our polishes are packed with naturally sourced ingredients and are breathable too, which basically means your nails can stay healthy and won’t dry out under the colour. And of course, they’re 100% vegan and cruelty-free—because let’s be real, no animal should ever be harmed just so we can have pretty nails.
After years of research and testing (and a fair few trial-and-error moments), we finally found it—our perfect formula.
A gel-effect polish with the coverage and vibrant colours I’d been dreaming of, but completely non-toxic, so I can paint my daughter’s nails without a second thought. What started as one little question from her turned into something so much bigger.
And from that moment,True Nail Polish was born, straight from a place of love, care, and wanting the very best for our children.
