PETA—short for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals—is one of the biggest names out there when it comes to standing up for animals. To make the world a kinder place for animals by tackling things like factory farming, animal testing, and the fur trade.

They do this in all sorts of ways—from grassroots activism and public education to pushing for new laws that protect animals. You’ve probably seen some of their bold campaigns, which are designed to make people stop and think about how everyday choices affect animals.
